Il castello originale del XIII secolo di Kaunas fu il primo bastione difensivo del paese ed è l'unica fortezza a doppia parete in Lituania. L'attuale struttura risale al 1368, anche se gran parte di essa è stata distrutta e molto è stata aggiunta nel corso dei secoli. All'interno ci sono diversi piani di mostre, dai sotterranei atmosferici a pochi artefatti intriganti in cima a una lunga scala a chiocciola in pietra.
