PIQOD Community Guidelines
Last updated: April 13, 2026
Language notice: This is an informal English translation. The legally binding version is the Italian Community Guidelines. In case of discrepancy, the Italian version prevails.
PIQOD is a space to share the beauty of travel. These guidelines explain what you can and cannot share on the PIQOD Live service, directly and without unnecessary legalese. For formal text, read the Terms of Service.
🌍 Our space
PIQOD Live is designed to be a shared visual travel diary. A diptych (2 stacked photos) tells a 24-hour moment in a destination, then disappears. The goal is to give those looking for a trip an authentic window onto how a place looks RIGHT NOW, not a vanity feed.
When you publish a Live, you're helping other travelers discover something real. Treat this space with the same respect you would give a friend asking for travel advice.
✅ Welcome content
We love Lives that show:
- Landscapes, places, architecture — the visual experience of a place
- Food and dining — the plate on the table of a local trattoria
- Activities and experiences — people engaged in an activity (hike, tour, workshop)
- Moments of the day — sunrise from the viewpoint, the outdoor market at 10 am
- Iconic details — the hand writing a souvenir, the view onto the Colosseum
- Unusual perspectives — the least photographed corner, the unexpected view
- Real season and weather — how the place looks NOW, with snow, rain, sun
The diptych format works best with narrative pairs:
- Near / far (the pizza and the neighborhood)
- Before / after (the trail at the entrance and the summit view)
- Detail / context (the mosaic and the whole apse)
- Day / night (plaza during the day and the same plaza at night)
- Inside / outside (the museum interior and the building seen from outside)
❌ Prohibited content
This content will be removed immediately. Those who publish it repeatedly will be suspended or banned.
🚫 Sexually explicit content or nudity
Photos of nudity (even partial), sexual acts, explicit erotic content. This applies also in artistic or "classical" contexts: PIQOD is a travel platform, not an adult site.
🚫 Violence, brutality, cruelty
Depictions of real violence, wounds, blood, weapons aimed at persons, animal cruelty (bullfighting, fights, hunting with gratuitous images). Public safety or documentary photos do not fall under this prohibition if in narrative-educational context.
🚫 Hate, discrimination, hate speech
Content promoting hatred, discrimination, violence against persons or groups based on ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, disability, age, sex, nationality. No symbols of organizations promoting hatred.
🚫 Copyright and intellectual property violations
Photos taken from other sites, unauthorized stock photography, screenshots of other apps, artworks without rights. If the photo is not yours or you don't have permission, don't publish it.
🚫 Third-party personal information
Home addresses, readable license plates, ID documents, credit cards, tax codes, named tickets, airport badges. No "doxxing".
🚫 Recognizable minors without appropriate context
Photos of non-your recognizable children, or in contexts that put them at risk. Photos of your own children in normal contexts (family traveling) are allowed but discouraged for their safety: remember that after location tag, the photo can be seen by all registered users.
🚫 Unauthorized advertising spam
Aggressive promotion of commercial services not declared as partnerships. If you're a tour guide or agency, declare yourself in your profile and use transparent captions ("Me, Rome guide, I take you to..."). Don't pretend to be a random traveler.
🚫 Misleading or fake content
Falsely geolocated photos (shot in one place, tagged in another), stock photos passed off as your own, AI-generated content passed off as real. The intelligent geolocation system crosses different signals to detect fakes: your pin ring will turn grey if we can't verify your position.
🚫 Illegal or dangerous information
Incitement to drug use, scams, illegal activities, unqualified medical advice, weapons promotion.
🚫 Content without travel relevance
Selfies in domestic environments, screenshots of other apps, memes, political debates, daily life content unrelated to travel. PIQOD Live is for travel, it's not a life feed.
📸 Photo guidelines
Minimum quality
- Resolution: at least 1080px on the long side (for good mobile viewing)
- Format: JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF
- Maximum size: 10 MB per photo (recommended 2-5 MB)
- Orientation: vertical or square preferred (9:16, 4:5, 1:1)
What we avoid
- Severely blurred or shaken photos (not recognizable)
- Completely black or white photos (exposure error)
- Photos with extraneous watermark (unless it's yours)
- Screenshots of other apps
- Photos with superimposed text (caption should be in the dedicated field, not on the photo)
Geolocation and authenticity
- Publish a Live only if you are in the place you're tagging (or have been in the last 24 hours)
- The system uses 7 signals to verify your position intelligently
- If the system cannot verify, your Live will be published with a grey ring instead of colored gradient. It's not an error: it's a transparency signal for other users
- If you completely abandon geolocation permissions, you can still publish but always with grey ring
Tagging people
You can tag other registered users in your photos. Only tag people who have given consent to being portrayed and tagged.
If you've been tagged and don't want it, you can:
- Remove the tag directly from the story ("Remove tag" button)
- Request complete removal at
privacy@piqod.it(within 72 hours)
💬 Captions and location tagging
- Caption: optional, max 150 characters. Tell the moment, don't make it a technical description
- Location: mandatory. Choose the city, destination or experience closest to where you shot
- PIQOD experience tag: optional but encouraged. If your photo relates to an experience in our catalog (e.g. the Colosseum, a Viator/Tiqets tour), tag it. You'll get a golden gradient ring on the map pin, more visibility, and you'll help others discover it
👮 Moderation
Every photo you publish goes through:
Automated ML analysis — a local model (NSFW.js) immediately checks the photo for explicit or violent content. If ok, immediate publication. If doubtful, it goes to manual review. If clearly violating, it's rejected.
Manual review — doubtful content and user-reported content is examined by a human PIQOD operator. Decision is made within 72 business hours.
Contributor feedback — if your content is removed, you receive a notification with reasoning and possibility of appeal.
Appeals
If you believe your photo was unfairly removed:
- Send an appeal via email to
privacy@piqod.itwithin 14 days of removal notification - Provide: the link to the photo (if still available), your registration email, reason for appeal
- A human operator will re-examine the case within 72 business hours
- If the appeal is upheld, the photo is restored (if still within the 24h validity). If rejected, you receive detailed reasoning.
- You can always turn to an alternative dispute resolution body (EU ODR or Italian ADR) in case of persistent disagreement.
Reports
If you see content that violates these guidelines:
- Click the "Report" button on the story
- Choose the reason (nudity, violence, spam, copyright, etc.)
- Add optional details
- Submit
We will take the report in charge and act in good faith. The reporter and author will receive decision notification.
⚠️ Consequences of violations
Violations of the Community Guidelines entail proportionate consequences:
| Severity | First occurrence | Repetition |
|---|---|---|
| Minor (inappropriate caption, off-topic Live) | Warning, Live removal | 7-day suspension |
| Medium (fake geolocation, tag without consent) | Removal + written warning | 30-day suspension |
| Serious (violence, copyright, hate speech) | Removal + 30-day suspension | Permanent ban |
| Very serious (manifest illegality, CSAM, extremism) | Immediate permanent ban + authority reporting |
Sanctions are applied by a human operator following review. Users always have the right to appeal.
🧡 Final note
PIQOD Live stands on the trust users give each other. If we all play by these rules, the space remains beautiful, useful, authentic. Otherwise, it becomes another spam feed.
Contribute as you would wish others contributed. Publish what you yourself would want to see when looking for inspiration for your next trip. Respect those you meet, those you tag, those who watch you.
Thank you for being part of this community.
