Description
Mechelen is a city between Brussels and Antwerp in northern Belgium. Inside the 13th-century St. Rumbold’s Cathedral is an imposing altar and a work by Flemish artist Anthony van Dyck. The attached St. Rumbold’s Tower offers 360-degree views of the city. Deportees to WWII concentration camps were held at Kazerne Dossin military barracks, where a museum and memorial commemorate the Jews and Gypsies who passed through.

La Cattedrale di San Rumbold è la cattedrale arcivescovile metropolitana belga di Malines, dedicata a San Rumbold, missionario cristiano e martire che aveva fondato un'abbazia nelle vicinanze. Si dice che i suoi resti siano sepolti all'interno della cattedrale. L'esame all'avanguardia delle reliquie onorate come quelle di San Rumbold e conservate in un santuario nel coro retrò, mostrò una durata di circa 40 anni e una data di morte tra il 580 e il 655, mentre la tradizione aveva reclamato il 775 d.C.
