Fu fondata nel 1367 dal Priore/Abate dello Skete di Dupiani. Nel 1765 fu restaurato da Athanasios Vlachavas, un leader locale della zona che era un membro della famiglia di Thymios Vlachavas. Oggi, il Monastero di Ypapantis (letteralmente "Monastero della Purificazione [della Vergine Maria]") è inattivo e raramente visitato, sebbene l'edificio sia completamente restaurato.
