Fontainhas non è solo il più antico ma il più grande quartiere latino dell'Asia. Situato ai piedi delle colline, le colline di Altinho con le molle circondano Fontainhas sul lato ovest, che le danno il nome dal portoghese per "piccola fontana". Testimone del passato portoghese che alla fine sopravvisse all'assalto dello sviluppo nel XXI secolo. Le case sono vestite di giallo, verde e blu, balconi con ringhiere in ferro battuto e tetti di tegole che trasportano in un'altra epoca.
