Abbiamo iniziato la nostra avventura a Tomar, una delle città più emblematiche della presenza templare in Portogallo. Fondata nel 1160 dai Cavalieri Templari sotto il comando di Gualdim Pais, la città divenne il quartier generale dell'Ordine nel Paese e uno dei suoi più grandi lasciti storici. Lì abbiamo visitato il Convento di Cristo, dichiarato Patrimonio dell'Umanità dall'UNESCO. Dopo la visita al convento, abbiamo pranzato in un ristorante dalle caratteristiche medievali, per intensificare la nostra esperienza di immersione in questo universo. Dopo pranzo, abbiamo visitato la città per vedere altri simboli templari.

Sulla via del ritorno a Lisbona, abbiamo visitato Almourol, un mitico castello situato su un'isola del fiume Tago. In origine vi era una fortificazione che, dopo la conquista da parte dei cristiani, il re Afonso Henriques donò a Gualdim Pais che la ricostruì, rendendola una delle più imponenti fortificazioni cristiane di difesa contro i mori.
