Whilst the full ascent of Kilimanjaro takes at least five days, in one day you can have a taster of the trail, trekking from Marangu village on the southeastern side of the mountain to the Mandara Huts – huts where trekkers going all the way up would sleep for the night. Your day trek is a steady and gentle climb up through rainforest, climbing from 1,970m to an altitude of 2,700m. The full trek takes around six or seven hours, there and back.
