On July 7, 2007, it was chosen as one of the seven wonders of Portugal, being, in fact, the first romantic palace in Europe, built about 30 years before the charismatic Schloss Neuschwanstei. From the Palace, visitors can see a mantle of trees covering more than 200 hectares. This park has beautiful paths and walks, with numerous garden constructions existing there. There are bridges and caves, garden benches, pergolas and fountains. Greenhouses and nurseries with camellias, rhododendrons and roses of unusual and very rare strains. The entire Parque da Pena is today considered the park in Europe, with the richest and most unusual set of tree species that no longer exist in many other countries and continents where they originate.
