Your Egyptologist walks you to the panoramic viewpoint where all three pyramids align and down to the Great Sphinx, carved from a single limestone ridge. Time is focused given the cruise clock, but you get the real story, not a rushed photo stop.

A short transfer brings you to Saqqara, the vast necropolis of ancient Memphis, where the Step Pyramid of Djoser rises in six receding tiers. Built around 4,700 years ago by the architect Imhotep, it is the oldest large stone structure ever raised and the prototype for everything at Giza. Your guide points out how the design steps upward, an idea being tested in stone for the first time. With far fewer visitors than Giza, it is a calmer stop before the drive back to Alexandria.
