It is the home mountain of the Huayan Sect. The building was destroyed by two fires and was rebuilt in 1692 which is two-thirds the size of the original building. The main Buddha Hall of Todaiji Temple, with a front width of 57 meters and a depth of 50 meters, is the largest wooden building in the world. In the hall of the Great Buddha, there is a large Buddha statue that stands over 15 meters high. In the Todaiji Temple, there are also the South Gate, the Nigatsu-do, and the Hokke-do.
