About Andvari
Originally constructed in Akureyri in 1975, this oak vessel is North Sailing’s 10th restored heritage boat, carefully rebuilt into a fully electric, carbon-neutral cruiser in 2015. Its name, chosen through a public competition, comes from Old Norse and translates to “a gentle breeze that glides silently through the air.” It’s a fitting identity for a boat that now sails Skjálfandi Bay without engine rumble, letting guests hear the ocean, the seabirds, and even the first whale blow echo across the water.

- Know before you go What to bring • Although warm overalls will be provided, dress in warm, layered clothing and carry a windproof, waterproof jacket. The weather on Skjálfandi Bay can shift drastically. • Opt for sturdy, non-slip shoes that keep you steady on the deck. • A hat, gloves, and scarf go a long way on this breezy bay. • Bring a camera or binoculars if you want to capture close-up moments, but avoid flash to keep the experience gentle for the whales. What’s not allowed • For safety and space reasons, large bags, suitcases, and bulky luggage can’t be taken onboard. • Alcohol, drugs, or boarding under the influence are strictly prohibited. • Smoking is not permitted anywhere on the vessel. • Pets must stay ashore, except for registered service animals. Accessibility • The Andvari is wheelchair accessible. Please contact the tour operator prior to arrival. • The tour is not recommended for pregnant guests or those with back or neck concerns. Additional Information • Tours may be rescheduled or canceled if the weather turns severe. • Whale sightings, while common, can never be guaranteed in the wild.
