Our first highlight of the day is a 463m-high mountain on the north coast of Iceland's Snæfellsnes peninsula, near the town of Grundarfjörður. The name Kirkjufell means "Church Mountain" as it is considered to resemble a church.

The original church was built in 1703 but, due to a lack of attendees, the church was torn down and rebuilt in 1987. In recent years this minimalistic building surrounded by mountains and the rough nature of Iceland became a very popular object for photographers, so don't forget to take a few shots for your gallery there!
