Malta’s capital city, Valletta, was built by the Knights of St. John more than 400 years ago. It is a historic city, but also a living, working one, the administrative and commercial heart of the Islands. In the mornings the city is visited by thousands of people, some on their way to work, others to shop or to learn more about its history. But what happens at night? This city has throughout the centuries witnessed death, murders, executions, plots and who knows what else. So it is perhaps not surprising that there are so many ghost stories told about Valletta, as it seems that there could still be some earthbound spirits attached to these historic places, still looking for eternal peace or vengeance. Mdina, conosciuta come La Città Silenziosa, è uno dei luoghi più antichi e misteriosi di Malta. Le sue strade strette e tortuose, le alte mura di pietra calcarea e i palazzi secolari hanno assistito a invasioni, assassinii, faide nobiliari ed eventi inspiegabili che riecheggiano ancora oggi. Molti abitanti del posto sostengono che dopo il tramonto, Mdina assume una vita diversa: le ombre sembrano muoversi da sole, si sentono passi su vicoli vuoti e si dice che gli spiriti inquieti del passato medievale di Malta si aggirino tranquillamente nella notte. Questa antica città murata può essere pacifica di giorno, ma di notte, diventa un luogo dove storia e soprannaturale si fondono.
