The depth of this Bocaina channel is not more than 10 meters. On clear days both islands can be seen with the naked eye from each other. The strait offers perfect conditions for sailing and world-class surfable waves can be found around the coast of Lobos. The island of Lobos is a small rock formation of about 6 km2, with a maximum height of 127 meters to the top of the Caldera volcano. It is located in this strait of La Bocaina.

In the north, alongside Corralejo is the biggest dune spread in the whole of the Canary Islands; an enormous extension of white sands bathed by the turquoise waters of the Atlantic Ocean. To the south, the opposite awaits: a volcanic landscape, red and ocher, dramatic and rugged.
